the reader reported various incorrect data (as UPC) often if the wristband was bent slightly around the patients wrist. i tested the pdf417 barcode against the ISO standard and found it to be Grade 4 (best). it seems the zxing decode for pdf417 is willing to report partials or fragments as it is sorting thru all the cells before it saw the start and stop bars and performed error checking. it does not appear that the ISO decode process is followed yet. i would recommend that this be checked out before anyone goes too far.

if you want to replicate this just bend a rectangular pdf417 so the edges containing the guard bars are less visible to the camera. also i have a video that i am willing to share with the developer.

i had all of the possible barcode types enabled when i ran the test. if i turned off all but pdf417, i did not seem to get the errors.
