Greetings, everybody!

I've just upgraded Mac OS X to Yosemite.

The upgrade removes MacZFS, and the package in the group repository does not allow itself to be installed under Yosemite.

Can we look forward to a (temporary?) fix in the near future?

Best regards,

Anders

Version 1.3.0 works just fine on Mac OS X 10.10.

MacZFS 74.3.3 is ZFS v2, Zpool v8. It was stated a while ago development on MacZFS had come to an end, and that people should move to OpenZFS.

I'm currently on 74.3.3 on OS X 10.9.5 myself. This week, I'm migrating my data off, installing Yosemite, installing OpenZFS 1.3.0 and redoing my ZRAID from scratch.

as Jason and Matt already hinted on:

If you still use(d) the old MacZFS 74.3.x, then I would suggest to
switch to O3X [1]. O3X is a new port of ZoL / OpenZFS to the Mac,
mostly independent of MacZFS, and as such the de facto successor of
MacZFS.

In principle, it is trivial to make the installer run under Yosemite,
but I would prefer not to do that.

Lundmann and friends did a great job on bringing up-to-date ZFS to
up-to-date Mac OS X, so unless you have a good reason to stick with
MacZFS 74, please give O3X [1] a try.

OpenZFSonOSX? Will do.

(Five minutes later...)

OK. In the readme-file for the installer, it tells me that I must sudo zpool export my arrays before upgrading, but I can't; any zpool call is answered with

internal error: failed to initialize ZFS library

So I guess that one actually needs a Yosemite port of MacZFS just for the purpose of exporting the arrays?

It is best practice. However. Just properly uninstall your current ZFS. Then install new ZFS and try an import. If necessary add the -f for force import and you should be fine.

Success!
Using the MacZFS Wiki, I did a manual uninstall of the components, rebooted, installed the new software, and rebooted again.

A sudo zpool import -f (array names) later, and there they were.

My most sincere thanks to all who have contributed!

Rather than manual uninstalling MacZFS, here's an uninstall script in case anyone finds it useful:
