Hi all,

I received this model, and it has a ton of double(d) faces.
Is there a simple way to select these faces, and get rid of them easily?

thanks!

you could try Modify/polymesh/filter points and use a very small distance. But could end up in flipped normals.. I think I used this succesful with messed up cad data, not sure though

If it helps, I wrote a script to detect and select faces that are overlapping.

Note : the script is very slow.

you could try Blender's "remove doubles" and "recalculate normals" after that.

I have to do this all the time because we export OBJ files out of Microstation, and it doubles every face.
I've attached the compound I use to fix it. Since I need it so often, I've added it to my menu. The performance is quite good. It removes all overlapping faces (not just doubled ones, also tripled, quadrupled... ones).
