SUBJECT: SOUTHSIDE VIRGINIA ALL BEGINNER LINE DANCE WORKSHOP, MAY 6, 2017 (Danville, VA)

Mark your calendar and join instructors Sue Ann Ehmann and Marianna Timmons, as well as our wonderful dj, Mary Kaye Johnson, for the first all beginner workshop for 2017. Our location will again be the Ballou Recreation Center, 760 West Main Street, Danville, VA 24541. Learn fun, new dances ranging from ultra beginner to high beginner levels. Workshops are geared toward dancers who are already familiar with line dance steps and terminology. Instructors are welcome! Cost is $20 for preregistration and $25 at the door. Step booklet is only guaranteed if you preregister. Event runs from 10 to 4 (doors open at 9:30 to register/sign in) and includes an hour for lunch. The summer workshop will be July 22 and this year we are making it an improver level workshop. Our final beginner workshop will be held on October 28. All the details (cost, location, time) will remain the same.

Event director Harold Logan invites you to join him for the Southside Virginia Dance-a-thon. The level for this event is intermediate and above dancers. Dancin' Dean will be returning and will join Bonnie Mathews and Brenna Stith for this event. As always, our dj is the incomparable Mary Kaye Johnson. We promise you a relaxed, fun-filled two days and nights of new teaches, open dancing and socializing with friends. Come join us for the "Biggest Little Event"!!
The weekend begins with a Friday night "meet & greet" dance from 7 to 11 ($5). This dance is all request--and I mean ALL REQUEST!! You ask for it, Mary Kaye plays it. Saturday and Sunday are at the Ballou Recreation Center, 760 West Main Street in Danville. Saturday begins with sign-in and registration at 9:30 with some dancing as well. Classes start at 10 and end at 5, with an hour or so lunch break and open dancing in between teaches--again, all request. Lots of restaurants in walking distance or bring your lunch. If requested, Mary Kaye will put a playlist on during lunch so you can decide whether you want to dance or eat or do both!! We break for dinner and come back at 7:00 for 4 more hours of open dancing and review (if that is requested). Sunday we come back from 9:30 to 1:30 with the most difficult, anything goes dances reserved for that morning.
The cost of the weekend is just $40 in advance or $45 at the door. Saturday only is $25. The host hotel is the Comfort Inn & Suites on Tower Drive (434-793-2000). Mention the Southside Virginia Dance-a-Thon for their special rate of $75 + tax per night--includes breakfast. SUBJECT: UPDATE TO NOTE ABOUT Margaret Vechhione ("Em")

Our line dance family has lost another dancer/instructor and lovely lady to the scourge of cancer. She went by "Em", but her full name was Margaret Vecchione, in case anyone would like to make a contribution in her memory to either the American Cancer Society or Hospice Of The Comforter. I will have envelopes out and a basket for donations on Let's Dance Day, Sat., May 13th.
UPDATED NOTE FROM LINDY:
The gal from the Cancer Society (and Em's DPOA and Executor) was going through some of Em's things yesterday and discovered a 'last wishes' list. Em had wanted donations made to an animal rescue group called Poodle And Pooch. So, I am adding envelopes for that organization as well as the other two. In case you want to donate on your own to any of these worthy causes in her memory, her full name was Margaret Vecchione. Em would be happy to know that her little dog has found a good home with one of the Hospice nurses.
She had only 2 relatives...her 92 y/o mum in England and a cousin in California (who has terminal cancer also), so we (her line dance family) were her family in every meaningful way. RIP, Em....we will miss you!

Event Directors, Tom & Marilyn invite you to join our Instructors, Tom Avinger, Cher Mason, Lisa McCammon and Sandy Schoenberger as well as our D. J. Dave Richardson to our 5th annual Winter Workshop.
We will be at a new location this year, The VFW Hall 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill, Fl.
Dances being taught will range from beginner to improver levels with lots of open dancing. The workshop will be geared to dancers who have a basic understanding of line dance terminology!
Pre-registration has already started. Cost is $35.00 before 12/1/17, $40.00 after and $45.00 at door. All include, step sheet booklets, donuts & coffee upon arrival and a catered lunch.
