- Level I class taught by Kelly Gellette.  This class introduces proper foot positions, how to use the feet correctly and safe body mechanics for simple dance moves. The NTA is an International organization that offers personal training and coaching for dancers, incorporating many dance styles. The NTA makes learning to dance easier by knowing the basic dance fundamentals every dancer needs. It is a great starting point for new dancers as well as for those who may have been dancing longer and want to improve their knowledge of dance.

There will be a total of 5 different ballrooms running simultaneously during the day, with open dancing being offered throughout the day in our Line Dance Lobby! Workshops will be repeated during the course of the event in order to allow you to catch a workshop you might have missed or to reinforce the lesson you may have already taken. One of our ballrooms will be solely dedicated to Beginner thru High Beginner Dances. That same ballroom will be designated each evening as our Beginner Dance Ballroom.

For added fun and excitement we will have "theme nights" for our evening dances! It is not mandatory for you to dress in costume but it sure is alot of fun!! Be as creative as you want!! Keep in mind that there will be loads of sales of Halloween costumes after October 31st

THURSDAY Night - Back by popular demand: INTERNATIONAL NIGHT: Show your pride for your heritage by dressing in a style typical to the country of your origin! Be part of the International Parade and see how many countries and States are represented!

*FRIDAY Night - It's a " Halloween Bash" - one big costume party... let your imagination run wild and be who or whatever you want to be...

(*Note: We have moved the Halloween Bash theme night from Saturday to Friday to make room Saturday for a SPECIAL SHOW at The International Theater at the Westgate, the very same theater Elvis performed consecutive sold out shows from July 1969 through December 1976! More information to come!)

SUNDAY Night - "Dress White at Night Gala" - An all white attire evening!

FLASH MOB - We have FILLED the Riviera Hotel lobby and the Westgate lobbies with our flash mobs! We aim to fill the Westgate lobby again! This year's dances are:

Lonely Drum (Improver by Darren Mitchell) and Clap Snap (Intermediate by Philip Sobrielo and Rebecca Lee). We will have workshops scheduled for these dances so you can participate!

SUBJECT:  Asking for help for a line dance friend.

FROM:  RACHAEL MCENANEY-WHITE

I feel helpless... Less than 6 hours ago our dear line dance friend Megan Barsuglia and her family evacuated their home due to a wildfire in Santa Rosa California. A couple of hours later they have been told that their entire home has been lost in the fire.

I am so grateful that they are safe but my heart aches for Megan and her family at the thought of losing everything, I am doing my best to think of how we can help her. I have never seen Megan without a smile on her face, such a beautiful soul with a big heart.

I have set up a GoFundMe account with the goal of $1000, if we go over that then great. If you can spare $5, $10, $15 or more - anything is appreciated.

Please help us raise some money for Megan and her family to help get them back on their feet at what must be a terrifying time for them.

Thank you for reading and thank you for your help.

with love, Rachael x

Update 2.30pm:

THANK YOU so much to everyone who has sent money. We hit the $1000 in just over an hour which is AMAZING!

I'm going to keep it open because I know every penny will help, Megan has been sent access to the funds to use immediately. Thank you again for your love.

Subject: Windy City Line Dance Mania!

From: Jamie Leick (tom_jam...@yahoo.com)

This was my first Chicago event - awesome! So, so, so many workshops! So, so, so little time!!! Even with “2nd Chance Sunday” I couldn’t take everything I wanted to take! I needed a “3rd Chance Monday”!!!

If I had to pick favorites (and I have to do it by day because I can’t possibly do it for the whole event!) they would be:

Friday:

The Ghost Of You by Roy Verdonk (& Sebastian Holtland).

Beautiful Wonderful by Debbie Rushton (& Jannie Tofte-Anderson).

If You Ever by Joey Warren (& Heidi Oswald).

Saturday:

Chameleon Heart by Debbie Rushton (& Jannie Tofte-Anderson).

Team USA’s Part-Time Girlfriend.

Team International’s Hurts Like A Cha Cha.

Sunday:

Lay It Back by Shane McKeever (& Guyton Mundy and Fred Whitehouse).

These are just the favorites - I liked EVERY DANCE I LEARNED! And - there were so many other dances that I really wanted to learn but just couldn’t fit them in!

This was my first trip to the Chicago event - and by no stretch of the imagination my last! We had a super time! I appreciated Mark’s attempt at getting some variety in the open/social dancing part of the event - and while I don’t think it accomplished exactly what he was after, it sure was nice to know that there was going to be a variety of dances on both Friday and Saturday nights. Very nice!

If I had to complain about anything, it would be that there were soooo many good offerings and soooo little time... followed by do we really have to get up and start dancing right away at 9am??? Talk about talking out of both sides of my mouth! I guess we’re just meant to sleep once we get back home!

I enjoyed meeting both Mark and Eve; was thrilled that Kelly Cavallaro was there to provide live feeds again; and had so much fun surprising Joey with swords for Straight To The Castle! Thank you, Hagan Ho!

Many thanks to Mark and Eve for a fantastic event!

SUBJECT:  DANCIN' with MARILYN, OCALA, FL

FROM:  Marilyn McNeal, BoarsN...@aol.com

Back from a great time in Chicago! Busy week ahead so here's a very, very short recap.

Favorite dance of the weekend is Lay it Back, by Shane, Fred and surprise instructor, Guyton!

What a fun and crazy fast dance, but LOVED it. Will teach it in my Wednesday night class on October 18th (with my own age-related cheat steps here and there!).

THIS Wednesday night I'm happy to teach Team International's (Fred, Simon and Daniel) winning dance Hurt Me Like a Cha Cha!  Pretty cool dance! Team USA (Scott, Guyton and Joey) choreographed a beautiful Waltz for the competition named Part Time Girlfriend and I'll teach that one too in the next few weeks.  Check the schedule on Mark's website at www.countryedge.com for the complete list of dances taught. There were some we knew, and many fantastic new ones.  The Floor Filler room provided favorites from this year, the Beginner room had several new dances. With such an incredible lineup of superstars, it was a fantastic weekend of dance.

We also had a wonderful time with friends touring around Chicago on Thursday, good meals, beautiful weather, good memories.  Thanks Mark and Eve for another successful weekend. Now to sort them all out and get these dances on our local dance floors!

SUBJECT:  Caution to Line Dance Friends…

I just returned from The Windy City Line Dance Mania event held in the Chicago area. The event was GREAT as always, with the top instructors from around the world! So many friends, both old and new! The classes were all so good; I don’t know where to start!

Blush

However, I felt I must write this to alert fellow dancers…. I have always felt safe and secure amongst my many line dance friends, but something happened at WCLDM that I must share with you….

After videoing Team USA demo their new dance Saturday morning, we all went to the floor for the lesson….however as I went to the floor my cell phone, credit cards ,and I.D. went shopping at the mall. YES! My phone, credit cards, and ID were stolen from the dance room during that dance class! I was in the third row back near the DJ booth, yet nobody noticed anything suspicious. (Fortunately, they did not take my bag with my lifesaving meds…Whew!)

Eve Yeaton, (bless her heart), made an announcement to the group of the theft in the room. We knew almost immediately it was theft when my husband’s phone started going off with credit card spending alerts. The hotel security guard found my ID in the parking lot later (so I was able to fly home)! My phone had no activity, but I got a “stern” scolding from our friend Simon Ward to “always lock your cell phone”!!!!

Please no pity; just be alert especially at large events where security is difficult. It could have been worse.  With other large events coming soon, I just don’t want this to happen to others…Thanks much! Dance on!

Your Friend, Sue Larimer
