New England Men Of
Line Dance Review ( M.O.L.D. )
A New Record from us to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital.
Bob Grundy
Simply The Best.
The Best Music. The Best Instructors. The Best Dancers. The Best
Volunteers.
It all began on Friday night with a bonus night of dance d j'd by Joe
Steele. He played a lot of todays hottest dances and then reached into the
archives to test the memory of everyone there. We needed a wall or two but I
think we nailed them all.
Doors opened at 8 AM for registration on Saturday
morning and it didn't take long for the building to fill up. Music was on and
the floor was shaking as everyone was eager to shed the winter blues. In
order, here are the dances that were taught. 10 am: Texas by Max Perry taught by
Don Carleton. Body In Motion by Peter Metelnick taught by ME. 11 am: Hot
Temptation by Masters In Line taught by Dancin' Dean. Here's Looking At You Kid
by Steve Lescarbeau taught by Steve Lescarbeau. Lunchtime at noon provided by
The Claddagh Pub....can you say yummmm. ! pm: A couple of BONUS teaches
were Coyote Sing by jg2 taught by ME and then Sweetness, a new dance
choreographed by Steve Lescarbeau and Dancin' Dean and was also taught by
them. 2 pm: Sum'm Sum'm by Guyton Munday taught by Joe Steele. East Bound
& Down by Kathy Hunyadi taught by Christopher Petre. 3 pm: Dark Side by
Steve Lescarbeau, Amy Christian-Sohn and Junior Willis taught by Steve
Lescarbeau. Wild Wild West by Jason Cameron and Jerry Siebe taught by Dancin'
Dean. 4 pm: Life Without U by Maggie Galagher taught by Christopher Petre and
Beer For My Horses by Christine Bass shown by Don Carleton. Then it was dinner
time also being provided by The Claddagh Pub. Each year they have outdone
themselves making sure the dancers at The Men Of Line Dance event are
served SIMPLY THE BEST! Then it was back to the dance
floor once again having Joe Steel play a huge variety of old and new
tunes.
SIMPLY THE BEST AUCTION. To all who brought items,
especially the Tuesday night dancers, 100% goes to St Jude and this year tops
all previous years. Thank You to Denise Brault and Forty for their generous pass
donations. We hope you will support them as well.
SIMPLY THE BEST for making it SIMPLY THE BEST event were Bill Gibson,
Joe Steele, Don Carleton, Steve Lescarbeau, Dancin'n Dean LeClair, Christopher
Petre, Erin Grundy-Butler, Kerri Grundy, Shayla Little and a very special THANK
YOU to Judy Grundy.
SIMPLY THE BEST are the dancers who braved the weather and made the
treck from near or from far away. An event does not happen
without
you, the dancer, and when it comes to supporting a good cause i know of no one
that does not step up to the plate.
THANK YOU ALL

Subject: Rachel. What a wonderful hostess!
From:
Madame...@rcn.com
I had the opportunity to attend Rachel's workshop yesterday. It
was the first time I was able to dance alongside her up close and
personal.
She made sure that EVERYONE had the opportunity to dance by
calling out alternative dances for some of us who didn't know the latest
ones.
Rachel is truly a gracious and lovely
person.

ITINERARY: Pt. Canaveral, Nassau-Bahamas, Fun Day at Sea, St.
Thomas-USVI, San Juan-Puerto Rico, Grand Turk, Fun Day at Sea, Pt.
Canaveral.
DUE DATES: November 25, 2015 = Full deposit of $250/pp
must be paid to Carnival
February 8, 2016 = Final payment
for your cruise balance due (cancellation penalties begin)
Insurance paid for – optional purchase
Prepay gratuities – Advance payment optional
You may pay $25/pp for initial deposit – or pay the deposit in full.
If you pay $25/pp, the balance of the $250/pp (being then $225/pp) is due by
November 25, 2015. Paying $25/pp first deposit does NOT hold a cabin for
you. It just guarantees you will get group pricing. You will be
assigned a cabin when you’ve made full deposit only.
Acceptable forms of payment are credit or debit card – which is best.
You may pay by check, but would need to do so way before the payment due
date. Checks must clear the bank before J and L Travel submits business
card payment on your behalf. So it is important to know this and pay way
in advance, if you plan to pay by check. Mail check payment to: J
and L Travel, 4 Woodlee Court N., Homosassa, FL 34446. On your check
note please indicate: Time To Dance Group (Carnival 4/23/16) and what your
payment is for - full payment of cruise, first deposit ($25), or full deposit
($250). I am able to help you make your full cruise payment with monthly
payments by credit card, after full deposit is made by you. Just ask
me! I am here to help you J.
At pricing from $100/per day/per person it truly is great pricing!
Or….move on up to an ocean view (window) category or balcony category.
Categories other than above are available to you but will be at “cost that day”
and not group pricing.
This cruise is going to be a lot of fun! Forget the line dancing in
the auditorium – LINE DANCE ON WATER!
There are many fun things to do on and off the ship. I’ll be happy to
help you purchase land excursions and tell you how to see what’s
available. Just call or email me! Invite your other Line Dance
friends who have not booked yet and/or your family members/personal friends to
join this fun cruise experience with you! The more, the merrier!!
Please direct questions about insurance cancellation protection, prepaying
gratuities and excursions solely to me. I’ll be happy to help you.
Just send me an email or call me. If no answer, please DO leave a message.
I can’t know you need me, if you don’t leave a message for me.
We hope to see you on board! It’s sure to be a fun time for all

SUBJECT: DOUG & JACKIE YOU CAN DANCE 3, SAN FRANCISCO BAY
AREA, FEB 7, 2015
From: Judy
“You brought the
rain” isn’t normally what you say to your guests to make them feel welcomed. But
around here in the parched Bay area, it means “salvation”. I remembered writing
how cold it was in a past D & J workshop. This time the weather was perfect.
It rained. Never has an umbrella become such a delightful accessory. And that
sense of delight permeates the Doug (Douglas to Jackie, Doug to you and me)
& Jackie You Can Dance 3 Workshop. Beautiful, slim, ageless
Jackie
(Douglas must have something to do with it) and simpatico, cavalier
Doug carried out a seamless, easy-paced and yet dance-packed workshop of 8
dances in five and a half hours without breaking a sweat. I was so glad they
brought back DREAMS TO SHARE, 48 ct., 2-wall inter/adv to My Love by Westlife.
This was a big challenge to me when I first learned (sort of) it years ago. Now
that I really got it (I think) the dance is all the more beautiful. One of the
best choreographies out there. I LIKE IT LOUD, 48 ct.,4-wall inter. to Let’s Get
Loud by Jennifer Lopez. Like the singer, it’s high-energy just the way I like it
kind of dance. KISS ME QUICK, 64 ct., phrased 2-wall to Kiss Me Quick by Elvis
Presley. The king lives and so does this dance. QUEEN OF MY HEART,
co-choreographed with Gary & Marie Lafferty, 72 ct. plus 8 ct. tag plus 24
ct. intro, 4-wall phrased, to Queen of My Heart by Westlife. a lovely waltz, it
captured my heart. ROMEO AND JULIET, 32 ct. 4-wall low inter. to Romeo and
Juliet by Garth Brooks. This has an optional lasso hand movement, but even
without that it would lasso you just the same. THE GAME OF LOVE, 64 ct., 2-wall
Inter. to The Game of Love by Tina turner. This is a bewitching dance, love it!
ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS, 64 ct., 2-wall high beg. to On Night Like This by
Buckwheat Zydeco. Lovely & sexy. A LITTLE PATCH OF HEAVEN, 32 ct., 4-wall
beg. to A Little Patch Of Heaven by KD Lang, lively and
heavenly.
There was open dancing in between teaches (yay!) and then
a 2-hour break before the evening social. Time enough for a dainty Japanese
dinner and a one-hour foot and back massage (aaaaahhh). The Belmont location is
close to everything that’s close to a dancer’s heart. The attendance was just
right for the venue which was awash with pink flamingoes and polka-dotted pink
balloons and hawaiian palms. Dolores Meek has once again cast her magic spell.
Also doing his own brand of magic was the DJing Duke, GARY CLAYTON, playing
oldies, classics and new dances. Doug and Jackie reviewed the dances they
taught. Jackie danced a lot with us (where they got all that unflagging energy
is a mystery to me). Some of the dances played: American Kids, Badda Badda
Swing, Uptown Funk, Twist Twist Twist, Tomorrow Will Be Kinder, Dear Future
Husband (someone said Dear Future Ex Husband), Say Geronimo,
Amame.
BIG THANKS to COUNTRY QUICKSTEPPERS for putting this
workshop together, to it’s board and especially to it’s president ANNI
WUNDERLICH who provided Doug & Jackie with their honeymoon suite (what’s a
honeymoon suite doing in a grandpa and grandma’s house?). Aaannnd (drumroll)
Muchas, Muchas Gracias to the honeymooners DOUG & JACKIE MIRANDA for giving
us another delightful, unforgettable workshop and oh yes, da
rayn.

SUBJECT: DISCUSSION ABOUT BEGINNER DANCE TITLES (I put it at
the bottom of the newsletter so I could group the
responses.
This is one of my pet hates although I've never said so - But since someone
asks !!! ..... I think it is an insult to dancers to call things Easy this or
Baby that or Little thingy or EZ blah - So some might not notice or care but why
take the risk - When you use such names it is an insult & why even risk it -
Just call it something like any other dance & respect the beginners - When I
put on an easy dance or a floor split I even avoid saying here is something for
the beginners or the beginners can do this because I don't want to
embarrass them - Just like the name of the dance it might not but why take
the risk - A similar principle in reverse about counting in dances - Some say
they don't need it but I always do it anyway just in case - Those that want it
are happy & those that don't need it don't care - So just take the low risk
approach - Give them normal names, don't say it's for the beginners & always
count in - Then you upset no-one !!! :-) I just hate it when I see dances called
Easy, Baby, Little or EZ ..... Baby is the worst - It does not help the dancers
so why do it !!??

Baby Dance
From: Bob Grundy
This phrase "baby dance"
to me is very condescending. I have been to classes in many places where this
phrase has been used and it has made some dancers feel for a lack of a better
word, Stupid. One time a dancer just could not get whatever it was the
instructor was trying to teach and because it was described as a baby dance that
dancer left the room because she felt belittled and inadequate because she was
NOT getting it. It's like saying Line Dance is not rocket science....but to
someone new to it...it could seem like rocket science.
When I start my
beginner classes I always explain learning Line Dance is like learning a new
language. Could anyone looking at this learn French or Spanish without a
struggle, even tho it could say Baby French or Baby Spanish. I could go on but
for me, don't make me feel like a baby, Than
You.
