Hey guys!!

So, lets start with the announcements. As most of you may (and should!) be aware, today is the deadline for a first-of-its-kind event, the Web Dev GC. The problem statement is one that will not only win you points for your hostel, but also help you build something that will be useful in the long run. The task is to make a homepage, with points awarded for functionality, design and code quality.
Last Friday, we had an informal session as a part of the GSoC Incubation Cell's effort to increase open-source contribution from the institute. Club members interacted with Freshmen informally, informed them about Internet Relay Chats (IRC's) and even had some of them introduce themselves on the IRC's of the organisations they are interested in.
As some of you may know, the online round for the renowned ACM ICPC is scheduled for next Sunday. In view of this, we are organising a session on Competitive Coding this Wednesday, where the speaker would cover the basic paradigms and methods in which one can approach most common problems.
There is an interesting opportunity for all those interested in development to work on a project that will soon be implemented in all the hostels here at IITB. It is a joint initiative from IITB Gymkhana and the Technical Council regarding Digital Publicity on campus. One can find more about the project here.
There is also another challenge organised by D. E. Shaw India where students from the premiere institutes from across the nation will comp
ete to tackle a complex machine learning problem.Cracking this would require a unique blend of analytical rigour and creative thinking. More information is available here.

As always, here are this week's memes:
