Here is a collection of potential miniprotesting main sign inscription sets. WARNING:  the longer ones should ONLY be used where traffic bogs down significantly during commute hours. The best places are one-way streets leading to bridge or freeway onramps, particularly if motorists often have to wait for two or more traffic light cycles. Another good choice in a rural area is a location that has three four-way stop signs in a row.

Some are the traditional three-part main sign sets, and some are four and five part sets where sign inscriptions are far shorter. The latter are best used where traffic doesn’t grind to an actual halt. There are even a few sign sets that use the rhyming style of the Burma Shave roadside ads that inspired this approach. Many of these inscriptions have come from fellow miniprotesters, so feel free to add your own as a reply to this post.

I’ve grouped things together by categories in this order:

-Union busting

-Ad lies

-Walker’s 1% bias

-ALEC/Koch brother ties

-Privatizing deer hunting

-Walkergate

And bear in mind that you can craft your own, copying any parts of inscriptions you like and pasting them onto your own. Got a Walker lie you want to debunk? Start with this first sign:

Corner #1:  Walker Thinks GOP = FFF:  Freedom From Facts

with the second sign in sequence pointing out the falsehood. Then cement the truth into motorists’ memories with a catchy slogan like “Walker Putting Wisconsin on the FAST TRACK to MEDIOCRITY” or “More Proof Walker Only Cares for Millionaires” or “Walker is Clearly on the 1% Privilege Posse.”

For evidence of hypocrisy, that first sign can be:

Corner #1:  Walker Thinks GOP = FFH:  Freedom From History

And miniprotesting is “fast-acting activism.” If Walker spouts another whopper or an ad comes out that begs for a truth makeover, get it out on the streets in a couple of hours if you’ve got folks at the ready. See the bottom of this post for details on how.

And now, on with the travesties:

So, there are a few for starters. To make any of these into full-size miniprotesting main signs, copy them into your text editor and expand your margins to the full width of the document in portrait mode. They should be in Arial, with lines spaced about 1.5 apart. Use no more than four lines per sign. The less text for each individual sign, the larger the font can be.

Email the main sign inscription sets to your local FedEx Office store (formerly Kinko's) and have them print out your main signs on their 36" roll paper, enlarged to take up as much width as possible, usually about 400% of original size. The 30" x 40", 1/4-inch thick foam core signs are sold at Staples in convenient packs of three. Just cut rectangular hand holds in them near the top, tape on the inscriptions, and you're ready to live out the miniprotesting motto:  On the Streets WE ARE HOPE.
