cannot change tree font color on windows 7

I like dark themes, so I went to Extra->Options->Tree->Font and selected white, and it didn't change anything. Changing the other attributes of the font worked, changing the tree background color worked, as did changing the colors in the editor. Is there a hack to change it? I'm a developer so I don't mind digging into some code.
