I ported a small wxpython example app using 2to3 which worked fine with 4.0.0a3 wxpython phoenix from here https://anaconda.org/gsecars/wxpython-phoenix on python 3.6. 

Perhaps it is time to think about feasibility of porting wxpython:

- python 3.(6)

- wxpython phoenix 4

- setuptools package

- conda package

I have worked on the last two and I had some success. I lost some of my enthusiasm when I realized that they still would not work on MacOSX due to some weirdness around the setuptools make command line apps from the python package.

Any interest for this? The 2to3 tool might be useful for the initial port.
