Forest,
We are looking to do a small upgrade to the intersection of Lewes and Hospital Road. As part of the construction of the new FH entrance, which was done by the Yukon Government, they installed a post that was intended to be a pedestrian
activated button to help cyclists who are heading southbound on Lewes get across the intersection to get onto the multi-use trail on the east side of Lewes. We never did commission the pedestrian activated button, since we were not comfortable with the location
of the pole.
I think that we have come up with a good solution that can be realized very economically and can be funded within O&M budgets. See attached figure for details.
The reason I am contacting you is to see if you would like to vet this through the Urban Cycling Coalition before we implement it.
Give me a call if you would like to talk in more detail.
Thank you,
Taylor Eshpeter, P.Eng.
Assistant City Engineer
