Ok this is something really off topic but I thought I would share with you
I was thinking about how my frameworks work and if I were to merge parts of each and add a few bits I could customise and make a call of Cthulhu one

Here are the basics
1. Use the Star Wars dice system
2. Use the wfrp damage , insanities , some of the actions , talents and the grungy ness
3. Redo the equipment for the 1920's
4. Use the skills from both and modify
5. And the sanity would come from the original where you started at 100 and went down to 0 and would effect various checks as needed
6. As you gained experience points you would lose the same amount of sanity

Ok so that's about it , so would people be interested ?

Well, if you use SWEotE dice system (which I agree with you), why would you use WFRP damage system? I think you could actually use SWEotE damage system, including critical but obviously they would need to be renamed. I feel being shot while not wearing armor (which is mostly how one will get wounded in CoC) is somewhat equivalent to being blaster while wearing light armor or no armor in EotE.

Maybe you should also get rid of the actions. One of the progress of EotE is not to rely on so many cards, but you could keep WFRP3 talents, or do a mix of EotE/WFRP3 talents.

In any case, it's a big reworking, but would be interesting to see what you come up with.

Cheers
Philippe

If this was a way to make CoC more accessible I'd be down to it.  Most of my homebrew WFRP games are pretty much CoC anyway.

I love Lovecraft. I love the era of play. My main reason for never really being very interested in playing is the idea of semi-disposable characters being offed constantly.

That being said, just convert Star Wars over. It has reasonable Fear rules that (in part) deals Strain. Once you're out of Strain, you start getting Insanities of some kind... need some kind of system for that.

But you need to revise all the skills, weapons, armor and classes to get it to work. Then come up with the Inanity mechanic.

Personally, when it comes to table top RPGs though, my design philosiphy is to always keep things as simple as possible. If Star Wars works and you're happy with it, I'd use it. Just tack on the "Super Strain / Insanities" rules.

Hey Dave, I can't help you on Hero's Call, but BFP and LOP, I have them scanned since it was easier when coding the library.

You'll need to wait a few days though that I find myself in a hotspot, as it's a lot of data to upload on my 3G connection. I'll send you a link then to BFP and LOP.

Done a little more work on the framework , characters done , vehicles done , drawn some new dice pictures , stripped most of the Star Wars code

so just have to import the new dice images and write the character creation guide , so there could be something for you all to look at this weekend

What system are you using for these stats/skills?

Kevin I am using the Star Wars system so the number of dice rolled is based on your primary stat an then the dice are upgraded by the skill rank you have

I have to create the rules PDF yet but it is heavily based on the Star Wars system with a few modifications

I got that part (I liked the new symbol designs), was referring to the names and numbers of the ability scores and skills themselves. Not the rolling mechanic.

That's the part I have to write but I have used version 4 of the call of Cthulhu rpg , so essentially it is just a but of or should I say a lot of typing out
