A group of cycling enthusiasts is planning a "bike-in" movie night at Ann Arbor’s Broadway Park (https://goo.gl/maps/co1Y4) on the 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st of July at sundown.

Brandon Moeckel, Gary Mazzeo and Bryan Kelly, owners of www.bikeinmovienight.com, have launched a Kickstarter campaign (URL: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/874284668/bike-in-movie-night-in-ann-arbor) and are seeking $5000 for the cost of permit fees, event insurance, movie rights licensing fees, on-site facilities and other expenditures to fund the cost of four movie nights along the Huron River.

The group was inspired by a desire to cultivate an inclusive approach to sustainable transportation, and felt an event like this would resonate with the community. Mazzeo had previously staged a successful bike-in movie night at the Washtenaw Food Hub.

The event will be free and open to the public and will encourage patrons to arrive by methods of sustainable transportation: bikes, carpooling, or on foot. Space for vendors will be provided, as well as lawn games and other opportunities for attendees to interact as a community. Volunteers will be on hand to provide a bike valet service, and there will be a mobile repair stand for servicing bikes.

The three organizers have already received a quote on event insurance and approval for a park permit, and are seeking the public's help with costs, as well as deciding what films will be shown. Suggestions for a film can be directed to in...@bikeinmovienight.com. A donation of $25 comes with the chance to vote on what movies will be shown, as well as a voucher for popcorn.

In addition, a casual, community group ride prior to the event has been discussed, though no official plans have been set.

Bob,  This is a great idea.  That pretty park is sorely underutilized.  I made a pledge, publicized in on Nextdoor.com, and am hoping to interest them in doing another during our River Hop at the end of August.  I’ve messaged them and am waiting to hear back.
Thanks for sending this!
Barbara
