Subject: [diversity-stakeholders] An opportunity to participate in the 2017 Trial Advocacy Program

Good morning,

I want to reach out to you to let you know about a rare CLE opportunity for attorneys to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before a judge and jury without the high stakes of a real trial. Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might be interested in the program, especially new lawyers with less than five years of trial experience. I have included a short description of the program below. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the program.

Trial Advocacy Program

Learn how to be a trial lawyer in a two-day intensive program that will take your trial skills — and confidence in the courtroom — to the next level. Coverage includes:

·         Objections and motions in limine

·         Voir dire

·         Opening statements

·         Documentation throughout the trial

·         Presenting evidence and demonstrative evidence

·         Direct examination and exhibits

·         Cross examination and redirect

·         Closing arguments

PLUS:

·         a new lawyer panel to discuss issues relevant to novice trial attorneys; and

·         a panel from the WSBA Litigation Section to discuss trial issues through the lens of the experienced litigator.

When you register for the two-day seminar, you will receive a packet of mock trial case materials. Please review those materials even if you choose not to register for the mock trial, as the instructors will incorporate the mock trial materials into each of their lessons and you will have opportunities to use these materials to complete in-class exercises. For a unique opportunity to put all of your skills into practice, without the pressure of an actual trial - register for both the two-day seminar and the mock trial (described further below).

Optional Mock Trial
