Hi Vusi

While the device is nominally supported under OpenWrt, I suspect you will find some challenges in using it.

Firstly it is based on the older AR23xx chipset, and has only 4MB of Flash memory and 16MB of RAM.  This is really the bare minimum required to run OpenWrt plus some extras like batman-adv (and certainly not Asterisk).

Also it appears that there is some modification required to get the device to actually use the 4MB Flash memory by changing the bootloader. This does not look like a simple process - see web page here:
In particular the section titled 'Resold SPI chip and reflash to Redboot'

I have seen this device for sale at a price which is comparable with the common Ubiquity devices which makes it problematic.

You would be better off with something like the NanoStation M2 which has a more powerful chipset and more memory, both RAM and Flash.

You might also consider using the MP-02 and putting it in an outdoor housing.

Regards
Terry

Install the plain OpenWrt 'factory'  firmware first.

Get the Attitude Adjustment firmware from the OpenWrt downloads page and look for the flashing instructions on their wiki page for the Nano M2.

Then you can install the SECN sysupgrade firmware which will give you batman-adv configured and ready to run.

Make sure that when you flash the SECN firmware from OpenWrt admin page that you uncheck the box for preserving settings.
