7.1.0 has just been made available. Automatic updates should happen in the next few hours, but if you can't wait, you can reinstall Video DownloadHelper from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

If you are on the beta channel (i.e. receiving version 7.x.xax releases), 7.1.0a1 is also available with the exact same code base as 7.1.0 from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/beta#version-7.1.0a1

Now it really messed up the download.  It can no longer download.  Trying to download from YouTube with Firefox.   It appeared to have download the file but ended up file not found after "download".  See attached. 

After click on the first Details.  This is what is displayed:

This new version is supposed to do everything that the last non-Quantum version did, right?  If so, something is wrong.  Version 7.0.0 only had three icon options when you clicked on it: About, Supported Sites and Settings.  The new version includes those, but adds Convert Files.  The rest of the icons are still missing.

Not exactly. What i wrote is that 7.1.0 can detect and download the same videos as pre-Quantum 6.3.3 version. I also wrote that not all features could be implemented (not written: by lack of time) in this versions, and they will come back in the next few weeks. The missing icons you are talking should show up back soon (at least most of them).

Wow, no longer able to download from a website that I pay to access. Youtube seems to download ok but unable to download from my subscription sites. This is one site that won't work https://zuzkalight.com/zgym/cash-4-x/ It will not open with the default player VLC. The same thing happens with my other subscription site, the clip never seems to fully process based on the icon next to the title.

I've observed substantial degrading of the downloading speed.
The downloading time of a file 1.5Gb is about 20min.
With previous version (e.g. 2 weeks ago) the downloading time for such sizes was mach less.

I agree that you are back to where 6.3.3 was with FF 56. Am able to download from all my "usual" sites. Still can't get chunked videos from hgtv.ca but I couldn't with 6.3.3 either. Running FF 57.02 64 bit, VDH 7.1 and CoAp 1.1.0

After I loaded the companion app all was fine.  Then there were updates to DH and I had to download a new CoApp and now there are problems.  I can click on the icon, and the list of files appears, but once I select a particular download format, I am not asked for a file name, and the file does not appear in my download folder.  I used to get asked about the download file name.

When you pass the mouse over an entry in the VDH panel, a "..." sign appears at the right. Click on it. You now have the list of possible actions. Click the "Use this action by default" checkbox at the bottom, then "Download". From now on, you will be prompted for the network location.

for a few weeks, there, VHD 7.0.0 worked very similarly to the pre-FF57 versions (i.e., pretty well).  Now, in 7.1.2a3, the save window is a non-standard window and the downloads are much slower (I've only tried on youtube).  I REALLY appreciate your effort to get things back to "normal" but it seems the program has taken a step backwards.  I will make another contribution to help cheer on your future success in making VHD the best downloader for FF57+, like it was with FF56.

The way 7.0.0 works cause a number of sites to fail downloading, and there is no workaround.

7.1 uses the coapp to perform the downloads and there is no restriction.

When doing the download with the coapp, the browser cache cannot be used if the media is in cache. That apart, there is no reason for the download to be much slower.

This will be back, but it's not there yet. Some other features like gallery capture and smartnaming have been requested more by users and will go first.

I have version 7.1.2a3 installed. I've also installed the companion app. I have a converter license as well. I'm using Firefox Quantum on my PC (Windows 10). YouTube videos can't be downloaded and/or converted now. So far all videos I've tried downloading are the ADP kind. The message 'failed aggregating' appears each time, whether I'm just downloading or downloading and converting. I've tried searching in this group for any solutions already posted but I couldn't locate any so far. I just wanted to find out if this problem is something that is being worked on currently and hopefully will be fixed in the near future? Also, Merry Christmas :-)

jmendo, when I looked at the opera, it showed as a cc(close caption) or a soft sub.  I'm still using the 6.3+ version and cc video would always loose the subs upon download.  Only hard, or imbedded subs would appear after downloads and playing.  Toggle the cc button on the player and see the subs disappear.  I'm not sure if the 7.1.1 can now produce the cc subs...based on your comment....NO!

When you open the VDH panel to see the error, there should be 2 entries per download attempt. You reported the second one (in red, corresponding to an error), but there should be a "normal" log entry before. This is the one i am interested in as it contains informations about the actual video file. Can you check that ?

I'm running Windows 7 Pro so I don't know if this particular tool resides in other locations on other Windows systems.  I also have no idea whether some analogous tool exists on Linux or Mac systems.  But on my system, if you navigate Start Menu -> All Programs -> Administrative Tools, you will find something called Resource Monitor.  It has a tab labeled Network.  On that tab it lists the individual tasks that are causing network line activity & you can get some idea of how much bandwidth each task is using.  This might help you diagnose why your download is taking so long.  Just a thouhgt.  I tried to access the france.tv link you posted but it's telling me I can't watch it in my geographical region.  Well tabarnac . . .

By the way this downloading didn't finish - connection with server was interrumpted after about 2.5 hours.
Since I've tried 2 times to get this video this morning ... in vain : after about 1h downloading interrupted duu to unexplained reason.
Connection with server was Ok and "blue arrow" on DH icon was present, but when I point a mouse cursor over DH icon, no dropdown list rolls down: the contents of the DH icon seems "empty".
I have impression that previous version was much more performant and reliable than actual one.
Can I roll-back to the previous version ?
I've compared the performance of the DH with Flash Video Downloader for Google Chrome (on the same links)
The last one is 2 ... 3 times more performant than actual version of DH.

I never got a reply to this but that's okay, it looks like Download Helper is working again on YouTube. I tried downloading a YouTube video in mp4 format and it looks/plays great. Then I tried downloading the same video but converting it this time (using the companion app) to WMV. It converted but the quality is not great, somewhat pixelated. But at least it's working now, thanks.

I have exactly the same problem... when trying to download and large video (over 1GB) VDH stops at 1.07Gb and never continues.  If I stream the video on my Mac (running latest firefox) the whole video plays just fine.  So I am reasonably sure that this is an issue with VDH.  This happens with any video I try to download from the site... this is a paid site, so I am pretty sure that unless you have a subscription, you cannot test it.

Last time I left it all night and it never finished. I had to manually stop the download in the morning.  It cannot be network related as it stops in EXACTLY the same spot every time.
