NUTRITION AND PUBLIC HEALTH

Walter Willet, MD, DrPH, is a Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Willett has published over 1,600 original research papers and reviews, primarily on lifestyle risk factors for heart disease, cancer, and other conditions and has written the textbook, Nutritional Epidemiology, published by Oxford University Press, now in its third edition. He also has written four books for the general public. Dr. Willett is the most cited nutritionist internationally. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the recipient of many national and international awards for his research.

Robert Ostfeld, MD, MSci, a cardiologist, is the founder and director of the Cardiac Wellness Program at Montefiore Hospital, an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Associate Director of the Cardiology Fellowship at Montefiore-Einstein. His professional interests include cardiovascular disease prevention, medical education and clinical research. He earned the Outstanding Full Time Attending of the Year award at Montefiore for excellence in teaching medical residents; the Program Director's Award for dedicated service on behalf of the Montefiore-Einstein Cardiology Fellowship; and was elected to the Leo M. Davidoff Society at Einstein for outstanding achievement in the teaching of medical students.

Minyang Song, MD, ScD, is an instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School in the Division of Gastroenterology and published researcher, with focuses on Translational Research of Nutrition and Cancer, Gut Microbiota, and Cancer Prevention and Survivorship.

Gary Adamkiewicz, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Health and Exposure Disparities at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with research focusing on housing-related exposure disparities, evidence-based interventions, healthy urbanization, and food and our future.

Ambika Satija, ScD, is a post doctoral fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and was a leading author of the study, Plant-Based Dietary Patterns and Incidence of Type 2 Diabetes in US Men and Women: Results from Three Prospective Cohort Studies.

Christopher Hirschler, PhD, MA, is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education at Monmouth University School of Nursing.

Micaela Karlsen, MPH, MS, is a postdoctoral fellow of Nutritional Epidemiology at Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. She also co-founded the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, as well as the PlantBasedResearch.org, an online database of peer-reviewed, scientific research relevant to plant-based nutrition.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Allen Campbell is an innovative chef who brings healthful, sustainable eating to life. Chef Allen designs and hosts culinary workshops, personalized meal plans and is co-author with Tom Brady of the TB12 Nutrition Manual. He is also the former personal chef for NFL’s Tom Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen. Andy Levitt, MBA, is the Founder & CEO of The Purple Carrot, a meal kit delivery service that makes it fun and easy for consumers to prepare and eat healthy, great-tasting plant-based meals at home and former founder of HealthTalker, the first word-of-mouth marketing company for the healthcare industry. Prior to HealthTalker, Andy spent more than a dozen years in the pharmaceutical sector in a variety of roles, including sales, marketing, strategy and management.

Deena Jala & Hin Tang are entrepreneurs and the founders of FoMu, an innovative and revolutionary plant-based marble slab ice creamery located in Boston, MA.

Pankaj Pradhan is a former IT engineer and is now an entrepreneur, founder, chef and owner of Red Lentil, a vegetarian eatery in Boston, MA. Pradhan has also served as a consultant for Harvard University Dining Services to aid them in creating and incorporating delicious and sustainable plant-based menu items for their on-campus eateries.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY

Gidon Eshel, PhD, MPhil, MA, is a research Professor of Environmental Physics at Bard College and runs the website environmentalCalculations. He is best known for his work quantifying the geophysical consequences of agriculture and diet. Eshel is currently a Radcliff Fellow at Harvard University Center for the Environment and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where he is collaborating with scientists on the developing multi-objective metrics of diet.

Matthew Hayek, PhD Candidate, is a Research Assistant at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Matthew has spoken on the impacts of our diet on the environment, health, and animals in the presentation, The Empirical Case for Plant-Based Diets at Harvard University.

David Havelick, MS is the Sustainability Manager at the Harvard Office for Sustainability and has ten years of experience working at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology. In the Office for Sustainability, David helps to develop, implement, and advance the University-wide goals, standards, and commitments that are contained in the Harvard University Sustainability Plan. He works with faculty, students, senior leaders, and staff to translate cutting edge research into practice and to ensure that research informs the priorities of the Office and the University.

TECHNOLOGY

Vijay Kanabar, PhD, MBA, MS, is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Administrative Sciences as well as the Director of Project Management Programs at Boston University. He has advised numerous organizations on training and technology needs, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Staples, United Way, and Fidelity Investments. Kanabar is an internationally published scholar and is recognized by local and national media as an authority on IT project management, electronic commerce, and information security.

Alexis Fox, JD, is the Co-Founder and CEO of Lighter, a startup and powerful tool that uses technology and food leaders to curate individual recipe and meal planning. She was formerly an Adjunct Professor at Emerson College and State Director at HSUS.

Zohar Liran, BS, in Computer Engineering, is a software devlopment manager at AutoDesk, where he leads a team in the creation of software tools for the construction industry that aid in the reduction of waste, increase safety, and improve sustainability.

POLICY

Cass Sunstein, JD, is currently the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard. From 2009 to 2012, he was Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He is the founder and director of the Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy at Harvard Law School. Sunstein has testified before congressional committees on many subjects, and he has been involved in constitution-making and law reform activities in a number of nations.

Decianna Weiners, JD, is the Academic Fellow of the Harvard Animal Law & Policy Program. Her primary interests are in animal law and administrative law. Winders’ work has appeared in the NYU Law Review and the Animal Law Review. Chris Green, JD, Chris Green is the first Executive Director of the Animal Law & Policy Program. Chris is an alumnus of Harvard Law School and as a student won First Prize at the inaugural National Animal Law Competition, an event he now regularly judges.
