Static link V8 into a shared object

I am trying to statically link v8 into a shared object. When I do so, I am getting a segfault. 

PS: This does however work if v8 is not statically linked, but using the shared objects.

I am on Ubuntu 14.04 TLS. 

When building v8, I am specifying the fPIC flags.
