Position Details

OVERVIEW  
Charter Communications (Fiddler’s 6399 location) is looking for a SR. UX Designer to assist in increasing the usability and accessibility of Charter’s products. 
 
What the team does: Accessibility is an initiative that ensures all of all abilities can use Charter’s products. The Accessibility team, which is now made up of 20 testers, developers, designers, and leads, is responsible for working hand-in-hand with all Product groups to make sure all services are up to government guidelines (Section 255 and CVAA). That means sitting in stakeholders meetings and acting as an Accessibility SME, providing a knowledge base of FCC guidelines for cable/ internet base products, hold teams accountable to established practices and supporting compliance guidelines, etc.

 

Day-to-day for contractor: First and foremost, these contractors will be designers but need to be willing to wear multiple hats. They will be working with individuals from the video products team to increase the usability and accessibility. individuals MUST have a strong understanding of cross-platforms and brewers compatibility issues. They have to have WCAG, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBalk in their backgrounds.

 

They are looking for strong SR UX Designers, but most importantly someone that has worked heavily with the technologies below. (JAWS, voiceover, etc)

 

Specific (Senior) Skill-Set:

  • 5+ years as a UX Designer

Strong experience with –

  • Wire-framing (Sketch, Invision, Axure – this is what Charter uses).
  • Site-mapping and workflows
  • Collaborating with third party vendors
  • Being a liaison with internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable driving processes and initiatives
  • Past experience creating developer tools to increase the usability and accessibility of web applications
  • Deep understanding of cross-platform and browser compatibility issues
  • Knowledge of WAI-ARIA in web application development
  • Expert understanding in validating web and mobile applications for WCAG, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and Talkback
  • Great attitude, go-getter personality
