Beer && Code SLC

One of my favorite meetups when I lived in Omaha was Beer && Code. The premise is simple: drink some beer (if you want) and write some code (if you want). Completely informal, just a chance to get out of the house, enjoy a tasty beverage, meet some fellow coders, and maybe even write some code. I would like to see if I can get the same thing going here in Utah.

It's short notice, but if both beer && code are interesting to you head over to the Desert Edge Brewery this Thursday (tomorrow) Feb 26th between 6 and 9pm. They have WiFi, food, and brew good beer. I'll be the guy with the laptop. (Tweet if you can't find me).

Follow the @BeerCodeSLC account on Twitter to keep a lookout for future meetups. The idea is to do it once a month (or so), at different pubs that serve good beer. Hope to see some of you tomorrow night!

Oh man, sorry I didn't see you guys! I was there from 6 until a little ~9:15. I had my laptop out and my eyes on both doors looking for potential Beer && Coders, but it ended up being super busy in there (some sportsball game?) so I was hard to find. 

I did connect with one guy, so there were two of us from 7:30 to 9. It took him two passes to find me though. :/

I'll make a flag or something in case of low turnout (few laptops) and a busy restaurant.

I'm going to try again next month, with more planning. Apparently last night conflicted with a number of JS meetups, so I'm considering maybe a Wednesday? March 18th or something? Perhaps Wednesday will be quieter than Thursday, too.

Well, I'm glad someone was there at least. I noticed only one laptop open, a white Mac but that person said they were not you. I made another circuit but sadly I don't know many of the folks well enough to recognize on sight.

Next time I hope. I did actually bring a little LCD board on which I'm coding a little embedded demo...

I created a Flag for the Nerd Lunch: Davis County Branch. I pushed it out as a SVG so people could alter

it for a bit more fun.

Just scheduled another Beer&&Code SLC for this Tuesday, March 31st (the last day of March) at the Wasatch Brew Pub in Sugarhouse.

(I welcome suggestions for future dates and locations, fyi).

I am working with herlo to try out having Beer&&CodeSLC as a recurring event on the uptimeSLC meetup group as well, for some extra exposure.

We will have a flag this time, since the last time the place was busy and we were hard to find.

I will stop posting (spamming) meetup announcements on this list after this, so please follow us on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook or Meetup.com to get the heads up on future meetups. Thanks!
