Provide students in
grades 6-12 with learning activities and experiences to help them
fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and
social growth. Essential Functions Comply with UT-UCS curriculum standards and all relevant policies and procedures (Federal, State, UT, UT-UCS, and campus). Understand the learning styles and needs of assigned students. Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to add educational value for each student. Implement each student's special programs as stated. (IEP, 504, ESL, GT, Compensatory, etc.) Conduct diagnostic, pre-assessment, formative, and summative assessments of student learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student Information Guide. Build and maintain relational capacity with all stakeholders including principals, professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents, and students. Participate meaningfully and actively in faculty meetings, committee meetings and staff development as required. Implement best practices with fidelity. Exercise professional judgment and make appropriate decisions. | |
Required qualifications Valid Texas teaching certificates for Science in grades 6-12, e.g. TExES Generalist 4-8 certificate and TExES Science Grades 8-12. If only qualified for grades 8-12, must agree to obtain missing certification as a condition of ongoing employment. (Applicants must list all Texas teaching certifications in resume.) Must meet Highly Qualified standards as established by the No Child Left Behind Act. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Copies of college transcripts must be provided if selected for an interview. Understanding of TEKS and the curriculum standards of the State of Texas. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests. Strong classroom management skills and ability to instruct students with challenging behaviors. Preferred Qualifications Valid Texas teaching certificate for Special Education at all levels, e.g. TExES Special Education EC-12. Attendance at Capturing Kids Hearts training. Prior related teaching experience. | |
