Backend Software Engineer

Job Description

As a Backend Software Engineer, you will develop airtight, heavily-scalable services to power SpinGo's products and growing list of 500+ partners. You will help improve our architecture as we move to use CQRS. You'll assist in developing big-data solutions to support our growing need for analytics. You have the skills to build well-tested, reliable, relatively bug-free software using uncompromising software design and the intelligent levels of automated testing. In addition to owning the development of the heart and core of SpinGo's infrastructure, you are expected to be self-motivated, give accurate estimates and deliver quality code on time.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in a Software Development Field or Equivalent Work Experience
  • Ability to take initiative and take the lead on raising the bar, improving code and innovating to create a better work environment
  • Several years experience ...
  • Experience with Scala; deep understanding of functional programming paradigm OK.
  • Understanding of message queues, designing fault-tolerant, asynchronous systems.

Other Desired Qualifications

  • An exceptionally large brain (for using, not for eating)
  • Advanced skills with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
  • Experience developing map or geolocation-based applications
  • Experience implementing caching and NoSQL solutions (Redis, Memcached, Riak, ElasticSearch, etc.)
  • Dev-ops skills: SaltStack (preferred), or others
