Hello and Happy Sunshine Week!

Tomorrow, the White House is hosting an Open Government Workshop to launch the development process for the third Open Government National Action Plan (NAP). We hope you will be a part of this event!

At 1 p.m. ET, tune into WH.gov/live to hear more about the Open Government Partnership and the great work being done to carry out open government in agencies. We will also hear success stories from the first and second NAPs.

From 2-4 p.m. ET, participate in the virtual brainstorm by tweeting your ideas for the third NAP to @OpenGov. Folks in the room will break out into groups to share their ideas on topics including: Fiscal Transparency, the Freedom of Information Act, Open Data, Open Innovation, Public Participation, and Local and Federal Collaboration. We will be sure to integrate your tweeted ideas with the discussion in the room.

Also, let us know how you’re celebrating Sunshine Week! Share your events on this thread or tweet them to us at @OpenGov.

Thanks!

Cori Zarek

Is there an on-demand recording of this event available?

Or notes?

Thanks,

Hi Steven!

Thanks for circling back – and thanks to everyone who contributed great ideas yesterday. That was just the start and we hope you’ll keep them coming!

You can watch the video here (pardon the very unfortunate expression on my face in the resting frame :))

I’m working on collecting notes from the in-room brainstorm as we speak. I hope to share more very soon including next steps.

Thanks and Happy Sunshine Week!

Quick feedback:
  • Really appreciate this group, but don't see any other way to follow what's going on. This is great for those of us in the weeds and know about the group, but it feels inclusive.
  • Promote upcoming events, document progress regularly, aggregate communications on /open (https://www.whitehouse.gov/open).

Luke,

Thanks for this. I completely agree! We will make it a priority in the next few weeks to work with our digital strategy team to get the site updated and to keep adding information in the future.

We can also really use your help being sure information about this work gets out – open government is stronger when civil society and government work together to further efforts!

Best,
Cori
