Hosted by the Newseum Institute's First Amendment Center with OpenTheGovernment.org, the American Society of News Editors, Sunshine Week and the American Library Association, the National FOI Day conference will gather individuals from all areas relating to freedom of information and open records to address transparency in government and freedom of information laws and practices.

  • Remarks from Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee
  • An address by James Holzer, director of the Office of Government Information Services
  • A report by the American Society of News Editors on Sunshine Week 2016, in cooperation with the Associated Press
  • The presentation of the James Madison Award by the American Library Association
  • New member induction into the National Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Hall of Fame
  • A celebration of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the signing of the FOIA
