Morning all,

The OpenGov Hub would like to invite you to a brownbag discussion next Thursday during Sunshine Week on US involvement in OGP (and other international accountability mechanisms) under the new administration.

Please note this is meant to convene a space specifically for US civil society groups/those outside government, to brainstorm and discuss their possible role(s).

We could also set up a videoconferencing/phone line for people outside DC to join remotely (if interested please email me).

Please register below and hope to see several of you next week.

Best,
Nada

Thursday, March 16
1:30-2:30pm
at the OpenGov Hub

The Open Government Partnership (OGP) was established under the leadership of President Obama in 2011 as an international network of countries committed to making their governments more open, transparent, accountable and responsive to citizens. In this framework, numerous steps were taken by the previous administration to advance open data, access to information, transparency, and citizen participation in US federal government (most notably through the US OGP National Action Plans).

Now, as data sets and other information sources have already begun to disappear under the new administration, how might American activists and organizations leverage the Open Government Partnership - and other international mechanisms that the US participates in - to preserve domestic open government reforms that may soon come under threat?

In light of Sunshine Week 2017, the OpenGov Hub is convening this timely brown bag discussion.

This event will feature brief remarks from Nathaniel Heller (Executive Vice President for Integrated Strategies at Results for Development and OGP Steering Committee Member), and Sean Moulton (Open Government Program Manager at the Project on Government Oversight).
