neighborhosted?

I'm a nextdoor.com user, and pretty much every time I open the app I wish the data could be located where it's supposed to be instead of using an access control list. Yes of course local meshes are wonderful, but software is easier. Although unhosted has been on my radar for a while, I haven't messed around with it. Are you folks building apps that host data on trusted peers? Is the framework capable that way? If not, is it a FAQ?
