last year they run an instance of StatusNet, this year maybe migrating to pump.io or we could try setting up buddycloud channels like awa...@2013.elevate.at

one of the features we want to finalize, shows on the map participants of certain activity in real time, i had long time ago a proof-of-concept implementation using http://faye.jcoglan.com

thanks to great help from niklas we already have basic support for http://remotestorage.io and now may like to add http://sockethub.org i haven't work with it yet but i wonder if creating in it platforms like Bayeux or buddycloud could help us streamline implementation of certain features.

not sure yet if i can come for unhosted unconference in unhost but maybe such collaborative features could get some attention this year? http://lanyrd.com/2013/unhosted

i remember some work quite long time ago with libredocs.org ;)
