Hi,

I am sending this to known users of UmpleOnline (mostly in the education
community).

We have had unprecedented usage of UmpleOnline over the last week, with
numbers of commands (compilations of Umple code) hitting the server
approaching a pace of 200000 per day as of this evening!

Despite some recent optimization work, UmpleOnline has several times over
the last few days reached a threshold where performance drops off a cliff.
I have mangaged to stabilize it for now by careful management of
resources. However if you or your students experience a slowdown, there is
now another solution: They can run UmpleOnline locally on their own
machine using Docker.

After installing Docker, the command is:
docker run --rm -ti -p 8000:80 umple/umpleonline

Then users would point their web browser to
http://localhost:8000/umple.php

Feel free to forward this information to your students and to any other
faculty members who would benefit from knowing about this.

(Thanks to Finn Hackett at UBC for setting this up)
