Congratulations to Matilda Lomas, daughter of a local Scout Leader, who has
just been appointed as one of four Members of the Youth Parliament from
Warwickshire in a combined national Parliament of some three hundred.

Matilda is:
an Explorer Scout with Leamington Central
a Ranger Guide in Cubbington
a member of a mixed Scout/Guide, mixed county, WSJamboree unit
a WSJ Young Spokesperson
a Young Sports Ambassador promoting the 2012 Olympics
a member of the Youth Opportunities Fund

She strongly supports the Scout and Guide movements, not only by her
personal involvement but also whilst a member of the Youth Opportunities
Fund, encouraging support for groups and WSJ units who have made
applications to the Fund.

I'll need to check but I believe that one of my Scouts has been
elected also.

Hmmm. Coincidence?

IIRC Scouts currently account for 5% of the population.

NASA have enabled 12 humans to walk on the moon. 11 of them were Scouts.

Two thirds of the Astronauts to have gone into space were Scouts.

...................... perhaps we are doing something right after all!
