Possibly not the most exciting chart ever, but we do seem to have a Top 99,
unless there's a tied position I missed somewhere.

I own a fair number of these.

>01 (9) Dido - No Angel

I like this. Her later stuff wasn't sufficiently varied to keep the
interest alive, but as a first album this was excellent.

>07 (12) U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind

Probably their third-best album overall. A definite return to form after
the rather patchy Pop. And this one contained some of their best songs.

>09 (5) Coldplay - Parachutes
>10 (8) Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
>11 (7) The Beatles - 1

I own all three of those. The only one I still listen to occasionally is
the third.

>13 (11) Madonna - Music

I bought this on the strength of having loved its predecessor, Ray of
Light. It's nowhere near as good, though.

>18 (18) Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

I like this one. I'm not a huge rap-core fan, but this is a good album.

>26 (24) Moby - Play

This is another good one.

>32 (30) Savage Garden - Affirmation

I didn't buy this at the time, but my wife is a big Savage Garden fan so
I've heard plenty of it since :-)

>59 (62) Green Day - Nimrod

Better in retrospect than it seemed at the time. It wasn't until they
reinvented themselves with American Idiot a few years later that I, along
with most people, reconsidered their back catalogue.

>68 (65) Fatboy Slim - You've Come A Long Way Baby
>69 (54) Fatboy Slim - Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars

Two very good albums.

>74 (72) ABBA - Gold - Greatest Hits

I own this, of course. Doesn't everybody?

>84 (66) Melanie C - Northern Star

A surprisingly good album, although she always was the one that could sing.

As opposed to the ones you pretend to like?

I have got the single of that song. I didn't like it enough to be interested
in the rest of the album.

I'm sure it's sold more than 8 copies by now.

Maybe it's just me, but a number of the lyrics don't sound very close to
those printed on the album blurb.

After dropping from 5-9 this album suddenly jumped to #1 with sales up
by 380% week on week according to Alan Jones. Sold 78,500 copies in the
week which brought its overall sales at this point to 250,000, 144,000
of which were in 2001, enough to make it 2001's best selling album to
date. It's chart progress to this point is interesting: 50-66-70-65-71-
50-63-60-53-44-36-26-11-5-9-1

It's not a bad album though I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it.

> 02 (1) Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water

I bought this album and immediately regretted it.

Sold 41,000 copies this week in 2001, its second highest weekly sale of
its 16 week chart career

> 03 (6) Anastacia - Not That Kind

I borrowed this one from the local library, played it once and
immediately forgot how it sounded. It's that dull.

> 05 (3) Texas - The Greatest Hits

Own this on CD

> 07 (12) U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind

Own this on a pirated CD!

> 10 (8) Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
> 11 (7) The Beatles - 1

Own both these on CD.

> 13 (11) Madonna - Music

and this too on CD though it is barely playable now due to a large
scratch on the CD.

> 18 (18) Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

Own this on CD too. I'm quite surprised by how many albums I own from
this chart

> 26 (24) Moby - Play

another pirated CD I own

> 32 (30) Savage Garden - Affirmation

Not a bad album. My sister was a massive fan so I got to hear this a few
times.

> 46 (42) Blur - The Best Of The Blur

I have a Best Of Blur album, I assume it's this one.

> 74 (72) ABBA - Gold - Greatest Hits

always guaranteed to pop up in these charts! Another I own on CD.

> 79 (78) Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction

This one I have on vinyl in the original, now banned, cover sleeve

> 83 (59) UB40 - The Very Best Of - 1980-2000

The Very Best Of 1980 to 1981 part is good but the rest of it is
dreadful to listen to. Another album I own on CD, this one is also a
pirated version that cost me £1.50!

> 86 (RE) Leftfield - Leftism

Own on CD

> 89 (RE) Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine

Own on CD

#100 is The Heavy Heavy Hits by Madness.

I'm surprised to see the Top 100 here as I though everyhit.com just
carried the Music Week album charts (ie top 75)?

Pssst... there are portable music players now, so you don't *have* to go
out of your way... :p

You used to have to go out of your way not to.

They probably won't starve.

Yes. The correct title given on the cover is Blur:thebestof.
Whether it actually does represent the best of Blur is another question.

I never bothered.

Effectively the same album as the original Divine Madness, but with
'Sweetest Girl' on it.
Later superceded by an updated Divine Madness.

I think he takes whatever info he can get, which in this era seems to be the
Top 99. Two weeks later it's only a Top 78.

I can remember hearing it in cafs and stuff around this time and enjoying
it OK, but I quickly got tired of it.

I find this a sort of point where they stopped trying to push themselves
artistically.

>>18 (18) Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory

The last album ever to feature on Q magazine's short-lived Celebrity
Swearbox feature.

Another one that got way too exposed for its own good, I think.

Of course this album was from 1997, so I guess it was on special offer or
something to be recharting three years later.

I could never be bothered with his albums after the first one. I did get the
Greatest Hits eventually though.

Seemed like she took a while to find her direction though.
