Lefty Yahoo confirms more than one billion accounts compromised in
massive data breach.

Just admitting to the 2013 Breach. Typical lefty/liberal
behavior.

The thing is I knew my yahoo account had been hacked in early 2013. They
spammed my entire contact list pretending emails had come from me. I
know they also hacked an account of a friend of mine a few weeks later
in march 2013 as he hadn't used the account for years it was obvious
Yahoo had been hacked rather than a downloaded virus running locally.

So the question is, if it was as apparently obvious as that why are we
only hearing about it now.

The real question is why does anyone use Yahoo!

John.

It is a good email to use for usenet and other spam vulnerable purposes.

I use google for real life, which just works.

What's new, Yahoo gets hacked four times weekly. The security is awful.

If they could get the security sorted out it would be a good system.
I issue one sub account to each contact. Any crap spam and I just kill
the sub account rather than mess about with blocking and filters.

I don't use yahoo, but would find it very difficult to switch email
provider, given that all my contacts would use my old email address.

It used to be the easiest way to form a "community"

Not sure if there is a better way now

In the main it does but it has some worrying 'features'- ie forwarding
messages to 'near match' Email addresses and confusing 'real' Gmail
accounts with those set up by systems using the Gmail 'backbone'.
