Neighbor's tree fell down yesterday, and they said the logs are free for the taking. I'm not sure what kind it is; guessing [basswood] or [sugarberry] from the leaves...
It's located at Alameda and Calumet (not far from the lab), if anybody is interested... Matt Navarro, perhaps?
