Dear friends,

Please join me November 6th from 6:00 - 11:00 PM for the opening reception of SITE Houston.

1502 Sawyer St,
Houston, Texas 77007

The Washington Avenue Arts District curated an art exhibition transforming the honeycombed footprint of thirty-four renovated grain silos into site-specific contemporary installation. Jurors Bill Arning, Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and by Jillian Conrad, professor of sculpture at the University of Houston selected thirty Houston-based artists to be a part of this exciting project.

Event details are posted here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1623080384641466/

SITE Houston is free and open to the public. The exhibition will hang through January 30th, and be open every Saturday between 5-9pm, with extended hours every Second Saturday of the month from 2-9pm.

Pool of Sound

Pool of Sound is an interactive sound installation. As visitors walk through the silo space, they push the sound of water with their bodies. The enchanted zone literally becomes a pool of sound where sound becomes substance, something to be physically and playfully encountered. Within this installation, sound becomes palpable. Sound and movement are made (in)to matter. The larger the visitors' gestures, the louder and stronger the sound of water becomes. The visitors' bodies leave no traces except for those of the sound waves created by their presence. Unlike sight, sound is immersive and simultaneous. It physically hits and penetrates. It bundles us with it. It requires and even creates our presence, such that we are not in front of something, but within it. In Jean-Luc Nancy’s words: "Sound has no hidden face; it is all in front, in back, and outside inside, inside-out." Pool of Sound is in collaboration with Montreal based artist and composer Navid Navab.

I look forward to seeing you on November 6th!
