Hi Everybody,

The City of Minneapolis is holding a free, public training session on how to access public data of the City on March 16th (Wednesday), starting at 5:30pm at the Minneapolis Central Library.

From the event announcement:


To mark the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, the City of Minneapolis is offering a free training session showing people how to get public data from the City. The session will take place on national Freedom of Information Day, March 16.

Pohlad Hall, Minneapolis Central Library
300 Nicollet Mall

The City Clerk’s office, the Information Technology Department and Minneapolis 311 will provide an overview of resources on the City’s website including the City’s open data portal. Staff will offer hands-on training for requesting public data from the City. Minnesota Coalition on Government Information board member and spokesperson Don Gemberling will provide an overview of the public’s rights to access government data.

Public transportation serves the library, and onsite parking is $5 after 3 p.m.

Food and beverages are not permitted. The event may be recorded.

Somebody asked if an RSVP is required for this event. As far as I know, there is no need to RSVP - just show up at 5:30 in Pohlad Hall - the auditorium on the 2nd floor of the library.
