Looking for data/maps on downtown Saint Paul (could apply to any MN city)

I am looking for stats and visualizations on the workforce in downtown specifically.

I'd love to see something like a heat map that shows where people live who work downtown Saint Paul. It would be interesting to see the same for Minneapolis.

With stats ... the basic charts of workers by occupation/fields of work and trends over the years would be useful.

Any tourist/visitor stats would be useful too.

MN Compass also has data on workers by occupation aggregated at the neighborhood level.

Each city also tracks commute times.  A comparison of state data vs local data could really help pinpoint areas that suffer due to transportation issues.

As an example, think of someone living on Stevens Ave trying to get to Stevens 2 miles away.  

I would love to see this data backed up by personal stories of people who were either screwed by this situation or those who thrived.

The Census Bureau LEHD LODES dataset is the probably the best resource for tracking where people live and work

Actually I would expect the Dept. of Transportation to have this data, though perhaps not occupational data, since they need it to plan road upgrades, traffic flow and bus/train routes and extensions. In fact an example of exactly such a heat map for that purpose was used in a Big Data & Social Analytics certification course I recently completed through MIT.
