You need to do the following:
  1. Trash Tunnelblick.app
  2. Remove the /Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/Backup folder
  3. Install Tunnelblick from scratch (download a new copy) using the instructions provided by your new VPN service

I cannot do it however I tried. I cannot remove the old config files, neither can I add new config files.

Please help. I know this may be a silly question but I am stuck:-(

Glad to have helped -- thanks for letting me know.

There is a better way to completely remove a standard version of Tunnelblick or a Deployed or a "rebranded" version of Tunnelblick. It gets rid of all traces of Tunnelblick or the rebranded program. Follow the instructions at Uninstalling Tunnelblick.

If you want to remove a Deployed version of Tunnelblick so you can install a non-deployed version (so you don't need to remove all traces of the program), my earlier instructions will work:
  1. Trash Tunnelblick.app
  2. Remove the /Library/Application Support/Tunnelblick/Backup folder
  3. Install Tunnelblick from scratch (download a new copy) using the instructions provided by your new VPN service

Did you miss the following:

"If you are uninstalling a "Deployed" version of Tunnelblick, you must install Tunnelblick 3.3beta21b Unsigned (build 3114.3185), which can be installed even if there is a "Deployed" version installed or partially installed."

?

Please follow all of the instructions at Uninstalling Tunnelblick exactly.

Hi, I also am having a problem with uninstalling/reinstalling. I trashed the installed version of Tunnelblick without realising there was an uninstaller programme. Now, the uninstaller says there is no version of Tunnelblick on my system to uninstall, but every single new version says it cannot install because there was a previous 'deployed' version on my laptop.That includes the version of Tunnelblick specifically listed as being OK for this situation!

I am running Mac OSX 10.9.5 (Mavericks I think).

My apologies. There was a typo on the Uninstalling Tunnelblick page, in the link to "the version of Tunnelblick specifically listed as being OK for this situation!"

Although the link was labelled as version 3.3beta21b, clicking on it took you to 3.3beta22 (which, as you found, won't work in your situation).

I have fixed the link, so you can now follow the instructions at Uninstalling Tunnelblick and they should work.
