My VPN has been running smoothly for quite some time now, until today
where it began to repeatedly drop the connection. The log just repeats
this message:

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I just tried to do an nslookup on the above host and it times out.
A whois lookup returns the DNS server as NS1.SSR-INC.NET and that
seems to not be responding to queries.

So, it does not look like a VPN problem, but a network or DNS problem.

Hmm so are there any steps I can take to solve this? Or should I just
wait it out?

You could try to contact secure-tunnel's tech support, although that will be difficult because their website is down. If you have emails from them from when you first set up your account, you could try to email them.

Or you could try a different VPN service provider. There's a list at http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/wiki/wGettingVPNService.

"ping" and certain other commands on OS X do not use the OS X standard DNS resolvers, so it doesn't always work properly.

I have the same issue. I'm on OSX 10.6.8

If I do a ping on OSX
I get

I've found the solution. It was only a problem of DNS.
I've change my DNS and use the one of google in Network Settings/Advanced.

Now it's fixed. ;)

Everything works well.
