Hi folks,

I'm seeing some issues when using TunnelBlick on Sierra. I've updated to the latest version of TunnelBlick, and to the beta just to try and see if it fixed it. Basically, when I try to connect to a VPN connection, I receive the box to give me info on the connection but it is constantly in a "Waiting for password" state. I never receive the password prompt. Here are some logs:

2016-09-23 16:33:11 *Tunnelblick: Established communication with OpenVPN

2016-09-23 16:33:56 *Tunnelblick: Disconnecting using 'kill'

2016-09-23 16:33:56 MANAGEMENT: Client disconnected

2016-09-23 16:33:56 ERROR: could not read Auth username/password/ok/string from management interface

2016-09-23 16:33:56 Exiting due to fatal error

2016-09-23 16:33:58 *Tunnelblick: No 'post-disconnect.sh' script to execute

2016-09-23 16:33:58 *Tunnelblick: Expected disconnection occurred.

I have checked my keychain and don't have any tunnelblick items, and am on the latest public release of sierra (the general availability one).

Anyone else experiencing this?

Try deleting your credentials -- select the configuration in the "VPN Details" window and click the little "gear" button below the list, then click the entry to remove the credentials.

Yep, that seems to have sorted it, thanks! Super weird!

Do I understand you correctly:
  • When you try to connect the VPN, you are not asked for a username and password, but "Delete Configuration's Credentials in Keychain" is greyed out.
Does your OpenVPN configuration include "auth-user-pass" with no parameters? That's what triggers OpenVPN to ask Tunnelblick to ask the user for the username and password.

If that option is not in your OpenVPN configuration file, I think the OpenVPN server can "push" that option, but am not sure. Look in the log to see if it is doing so.

For further help, please post the diagnostic info obtained by following the instructions at Read Before You Post (https://tunnelblick.net/cBeforeYouPost.html).
