After update to Mac OS Sierra, I couldn't connect VPN anymore. I tried both stable and beta releases. the error message is ebelow.

It appears that Tunnelblick is unable to load its kext on Sierra, which would be a bug.

Perhaps some VPN service provider that uses "tap" will look into this and propose a fix.

Same Tunnelblick version, same problem, same answer: "tap" configurations don't work with Tunnelblick on macOS Sierra.

A solution might come from a VPN service provider that uses "tap", but not from me any time soon.

Apologies, my diag was very similar to the OP so I didn't post it.

Interestingly, I have since restarted my machine, and Tunnelblick's kext now loads fine.

My original failing diagnostic log is attached, along with this morning's post-reboot diag, in the hope they may prove useful.

Sorry, I had not noticed this line in your configuration file earlier:

dev-type tun

Without figuring out why Tunnelblick can't load the kext, I think the problem can be avoided if you remove or comment out that line. (To comment it out, prefix it with a "#" or ";" character). (The "dev tun" line must stay in and won't affect this.)

Tunnelblick only loads the tun kext if it is needed. OpenVPN will use it only under certain circumstances, one of which is if the "dev-type tun" option is used. If it is not used, OpenVPN uses built-into-OS-X "utun" instead. Tunnelblick, knowing that, won't attempt to load the tun kext.

The same approach doesn't work for tap kexts (which was the setup that "nataoh" uses) because there is no "utap" built into OS X.

second I don't have ane experience with VPN, but i use tutorials from net

follow are my story:

I would like establish bridge vpn between clients connected to VPN server.

in first steep vpn client on windows desktop was conected to VPN server - that OK, ping on TAP interface was OK

in second steep my mac was connected as client to vpn server, but ping on IP from VPN server doesn't work.....

I taught that some setting on VPN client on Mac was broken or others undefined problems occur.

Unfortunate i was tried some advanced network setting on my MAC, add bridge service , delete WiFi service etc.

I can't restore VPN client on my mac...... please suggestion, what i can do to restore tennelblick to work.

and second why tuneblick doesn't work on my bridge.

Next (3) client on windows desktop connected on my network are working correctly.... So ping between windows clients trough by VPN server are OK.

On my Mac ping are working only on local interface. not form VPN IP..... (where tunelblick was work)

In my case i had Visocity installed and OS-X loaded its kext.

kextstat command in terminal to view all kext loaded

sudo kextunload -b com.viscosityvpn.Viscosity.tap -- to remove particular kext

And then try to connect using TunnelBlick
