Tumblr recently released a new theme garden and it's nice, but it no longer gives any incentive for theme developers to submit new themes.

The tags on the new theme garden are great but it seems this theme garden is featured and premium themes only.
The new theme garden has an all section but that is no where no truly all of the themes, as the original theme garden had closed to 1500 approved themes before the new garden replaced it.The old theme garden style aslo had a "Recent" section so if you didn't make the featured section you would still make some gain from the theme.

Let's not forgot that teenagers make up a major portion of Tumblr users, and there is a really lack of "light, minimalist, clean," themes which they appear to love.

Jokes aside, a Recent section is really needed.

Amen, ditto, agreed, +1, and yes.

Why the heck did they do this? I had/have over 3500 users of my three themes (not that that's that much) and was developing a fourth, but no I have virtually no incentive. Way to alienate all your theme developers, Tumblr.

Sadly they will have no way of seeing this, as their support system is atrocious (6+ emails to sup...@tumblr.com w/ no responses one one of my blogs), and they don't even respond to their own Tumblr Group which they created. The only time they respond is when someone has a premium theme question. (No surprise there.)

What is the issue for which you emailed support?

I agree, I depended in "recent" for people to find my themes... and I used it to look at new themes. I love the new theme section but it's not practical...
