One of my customers noticed that a change within the last year or so in Tumblr's API leads to unexpected behavior when submitting a post "future dated", in the hopes of making it a scheduled post. In the past, Tumblr used to accept posts submitted with "published" status but having a future date, and treated them as scheduled posts implicitly.

I see in another mailing list thread here that a client could use "publish_on" to achieve the desired behavior, but it was a nice side-effect that things just worked the way users expect when setting a future date, the old way.

For what it's worth the same technique of setting a future date implies scheduling for both WordPress and Blogger. It would be nice if Tumblr re-adopted this concession in order to make it work for users whose client apps don't provide special support for "publish_on".
