A travel programme that will bring tourists to Bagan, Chiang Mai, Swanparabon, Vientiane, Siem Reap and Hue – all destinations that are part of the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) – will soon be launched, according to Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
The goal of the programme is to promote tourism in ACMECS countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, the ministry said.
Vice President Nyan Tun said on July 29 at the opening ceremony of 3rd CLMV and 2nd ACMECS Tourism Ministerial Meetings that the main aims of the establishment of ACMECS are to foster neighbourliness, to enhance peace and stability in the region and to promote sustainable and inclusive development in the participant countries in order to support the Asean Community in 2015 and beyond.
