Longmont police arrest transgender teen on suspicion of attempted murder, assault

A 16-year-old transgender boy faces possible attempted murder and assault charges after Longmont police say the teen crashed a sport utility vehicle into another car and tried to stab the occupants Friday morning.
Cmdr. Jeff Satur said the suspect had been following his 19-year-old girlfriend and a 21-year-old man around town and rammed their vehicle about 4:45 a.m. when it pulled into a parking lot at Third Avenue and Emery Street.
Satur said the collision pushed the other car back about six feet, and when the man and woman emerged from their vehicle, the suspect attempted to stab them with a 7-inch knife.
He said the man held the suspect down until police arrived. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, menacing, domestic violence, harassment and stalking charges.
Satur said the woman called the man, who is her friend, and said she had been in a previous domestic dispute with the suspect.
The man complained of pain in his arm, neck and shoulder and was taken to a local hospital. The suspect suffered a head injury when he was taken down in the parking lot. He has been taken to Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center, Satur said.
