Are you passionate about making Portland a great walking city?

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is excited to announce the opportunity to apply for membership on Portland’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC). We currently have 11 seats available for committee membership for a term beginning in January 2018. Up to six alternate seats are also available.

About the PAC

The PAC is a 15-person committee that advises the City on all matters that encourage and enhance walking as a means of transportation, recreation, wellness, and environmental enhancement. The committee is comprised of a cross-section of Portlanders, including walking and mobility advocates, neighborhood activists, urban planning professionals, and residents at-large.

NOTE: The PAC application is similar to the one used for the PedPDX Community Advisory Committee (CAC) recruitment earlier this year. If you applied to the PedPDX CAC, the online PAC application provides the opportunity to fast-track your PAC application by using relevant materials you already submitted (although it doesn't have the ability to allow you to review those previously submitted materials if you choose this option).

Member Qualifications

PAC members must:

  • Be a resident or business owner in the City of Portland
  • Have an interest in promoting walking for transportation, recreation, and environmental enhancement
  • Have good communication skills for working on a committee
  • Commit to attending one 2-hour meeting per month (currently scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month) and participating in the work of the committee

Appointed members will serve a four-year term (January 2018 - December 2021).
