Brenda, I was so thinking , YES ! -
" High Lonesome...", that's where I read ' San Quentin ', a hundred years ago.

But when I listened to JCO read and discuss the story on that LITTORAL site I found, she references her experience teaching inmates there, along with " my husband, Charles Gross " as inspiration.

( SHIFTEH: I sent you the link to this site and am curious whether you were able to access it.
In my response, I changed the subject line to " San Quentin ", as "dial_tory" referred to a previous question. )

So the story must be more recent, post- dating the passing of Raymond Smith.

Know what ?... now, I'm wondering if it wasn't 'fiction' in Playboy Magazine.

Serious_ly.

Shoshanna. =^..^=

I'm aware that High Lonesome was published in 2006, but Shifteh seems to have a print copy, not the audio. Perhaps this audio story is a variation on an earlier published piece.

I did enjoy hearing JCO read. Thanks, Shoshana.

Dear Friends

Thanks for your help
Please send me the link to that site.
Of course maybe i can not use it.
Because here in Iran the speed of internet is so low.
and maybe i can not listen to an audio.
but if you can tell me your comments about the whole story maybe it
will help me more to translate it better.

Shifteh
