Hello all,

Hello All,

I am a tiny houser, recently relocated from Whidbey Island Washington, where I built my own tiny house (MightyMicroBuilt.com) and am presently subleasing a tiny in Foster-Powell (JustaSmidgeon.com). My sublease is coming to an end. Consequently, I'm looking for accommodations by August 1 (earliest) or Aug 16, at the latest.

Quick clarification: My tiny house was not engineered for the highway, and so is currently for sale on the Island. I came south to immerse myself in the groundbreaking tiny work centered in Portland area. and I plan to build again.  In the mean time, I am honored to be volunteering where I can--so far on Lina Menard's and Laura Klement's tiny builds.

While finding another tiny rental would be fantastic, I would definitely consider a spare bedroom, house sits, also.  Rent range $400-$700.  More about me:
  • Friendly, independent, 42-year-old female with diversely aged friends
  • Omnivorous
  • Creatively inclined (silversmithing, tango, culinary explorations, writing, neophyte guitar)
  • Full-time Office Manager for sustainable building project (breathebuilding.com)
  • Hardworking, responsible, considerate
  • Good boundaries and sense of humor
If you can help, I would love to hear from you.  In any case, I look forward to meeting many of you at future Portland Tiny gatherings.

Cheers!

Angela,
If you don't get any other offers, keep me in mind.  Apartments in Portland have gone through the roof in the last year or so: $700 is close to rock bottom for a one bedroom.

I only have a one bedroom apartment (I might give you the bedroom), so someone would have to manage in the dining-livingroom. There are hide-a-beds in the oversized chairs.  Could also rearrange the book cases (of which I have many) to carve out a second bedroom in the living-dining space. My rent including utilities is $800 per month, so sharing around 50% would be $400 (Maybe the person in the bedroom would pay more?).

I am a 67-year old non-smoking female.
I teach sustainability classes at PCC. My students love me.
I teach little kids (3 years to fifth grade) about trees.
I have designed a tiny house, but can't seem to get all the
ducks in a row so I can get it to happen.
Also omnivore, but lean towards organic when possible.
Used to make jewelry, used to be a good cook, used to play a
guitar. Would love to learn how to dance.
I am in the middle of writing two books, with two others waiting
    to be started.
I have lived all over the country, England, France, and Algeria.
I have three ex-husbands, none live in Portland.

I realize that living in a one bedroom would be kinda tight, but if you are used to a tiny house, and I am trying to get rid of stuff so that I can move into one of my own, 800 sq feet should be large enough for the two of us!

I am just putting the idea out there ...
Hope you get a roomier offer, but if not ...

“This much is clear to me. If I can’t change my own life in response to the greatest challenge now facing our human family, who can? And if I won’t make the effort to try, why should anyone else? So I’ve decided to start at home, and begin with myself. The question is no longer whether I must respond. The question is whether I can turn my response into an adventure…”

Hi Linda,

Thanks so much for your generous offer to rearrange your entire home! With all of the interests you named, you sound like a woman after my own heart. However, a one-bedroom is a little too cozy.

On a side note, have you ever attended the tiny house mixers hosted by Portland Alternative Dwellings.  They are great source of fun, networking and tiny moral support. I wish I'd had access to it when I was building. Perhaps we shall see each other there one day.

Best wishes,
Angela

I have been to a couple of their trainings, but have not been to a mixer yet.  Will have to try to fit that into the schedule!
