I need my students to be able to download files from their nspires and send them to me via email.  For some reason, the Nspire Link program is no longer available.....anyone know where to get it?

* the most recent version of TINCLS for Windows can be downloaded from
http://edudownload.ti.com/downloads/files/cdn/clink/TI-NspireLink.exe
* for MacOS X, it's probably
http://edudownload.ti.com/downloads/files/cdn/clink/TI-NspireLink.dmg
* if any of your students uses some flavor or Linux, they need to use
TILP ( http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tilp/linux.html ).

Hope that this helps :)
Lionel.

Heads-up: When I spoke to TI about two months ago about why they were "hiding" the Nspire Link Software they said that the link software and Nspire Computer Software share some files and can "get confused".  I noted that I have not had any problem with that on the Mac and they said "that they don't see the problem much (if at all) on Macs.  So, I am not sure if there are real problems, if Windows has it more often, or what.  I do know that so far that the link and the software seem to co-exists well on a Mac.

I believe what they are referring to are the error messages that say "communication library error" or something similar.  Basically, they both use the same dll files and/or drivers (I'm not sure which is the case), which confuses the computer.  I've experienced this a few times.

I think the better thing to do would be encourage the students to upgrade their OS and Student Software to something newer (at least 2.1?) so they can use the newer versions of the student software, which contains the link capabilities.

You are right Eric, but many of us are not in a situation where we can afford copies of the software for all of the school's computers and/or personal machines.  Even if we can, we don't necessarily need to install it on all the machines since we may only need to do file transfers in some classes.  On the other hand, if the link is installed as part of the general installation on all school machines, students can download files from any school computer.  Of course I prefer the software, but it sure is expensive.

Ah!  If you do not have the Student Software installed, then you shouldn't have communication problems with the Link Software.

I wonder if TI would have a problem with us posting the install file in the files section for easier access for people here that might be in the same situation....Anyone from TI that can comment???
