Hi Everyone,

A read-only tiddlywiki requires a read-only tiddlymap plugin. The edit buttons in the tiddlymap enables an edit onto the tiddlers indirectly. The buttons and options on the map causes confusion to a novice. What do you think?

Hi Atul,

What you describe sounds like the "Live tab" introduced in v0.10.0
Please see the docs (http://tiddlymap.org/#Documentation) and open the section 5.3 "Live tab".

Does this help?

Hi Felix,

What I mean is a tiddly-map plugin without add-node, add-edge editing options.
With live-view as default view, there is no drop-down for open-the-menu, neighborhood scope or export option.

Hi Atul,

With live-view as default view, there is no drop-down for open-the-menu, neighborhood scope or export option.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding: I was talking about the "live tab", not the "live view" (for clarification, see the link in my previous post).

What I mean is a tiddly-map plugin without add-node, add-edge editing options.

This is what the "live tab" does. It hides all editor options including "add node" and "add edge". However, the live tab does not allow you to switch views…

---

In case the "live tab" is not what you want, could you please say if I understand you correctly:

You want a map widget displayed in the sidebar

without
  • a dropdown menu (configure TiddlyMap etc.)
  • a visjs menu (add node/edge)
but with
  • A dropdown menu to switch views
  • A dropdown to adjust the neighbourhood
  • A dropdown to export the map (e.g as screenshots or json)

Regards
Felix

Hi Felix,

I think the most simplistic read-only ui would be for there to be no controls (except those at the bottom left and right, but maybe not even those, except for some on-hover-fullscreen button, maybe) ...so, not even ways to switch views. Just my 5 cts.

Best wishes,

Tobias.

Felix,

Just what the doctor ordered.... I am just beginning to grasp the depth of your plugin...
Kudos...Great Job.... all is working well for now....

@Tobias...that's exactly what the live view does....no controls (except those at the bottom left and right....)

What you described is very close to the default state, as Atul mentioned. The menu entry "grab widget code" also allows you to choose a "plain design" without header or borders. You can also deselect "show buttons" to hide the buttons.

Thanks Atul, much appreciated. Not everything is optimal yet and I am always collecting thoughts for future improvement. So if you spot a bug or have a suggestion for an improvement, don't hesitate to mention it here or at GitHub.
