This is a reminder to all that the JUNE TPFR BEER TIE is TONIGHT from 7PM-9PM at RiRa Irish Pub in Clarendon.  Details and directions are on our EVENTS PAGE.  There is no "theme" tonight, just come and spend some good time with good people, eat, drink, and tie a few flies with friends.  I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

Oh yeah, and bring a few bucks for the raffle.  TPFRer Victor K has donated a size 4 Battenkill Large Arbor Reel in perfect condition to be raffled off tonight.  These reels retailed for $250 and are perfect for any 7-9 weight rod or light Spey outfit.  Raffle tickets as always are $1 each or $5 for six tickets.  Thank you to Victor for this very kind contribution.  See you there!

Looking forward to tonight's Tie. Recent beginners table flies have included very timely local choices like Clousers and wooly buggers and shad flies. How about a mulberry fly demo by someone tonight showing us fly tying newbies this killer carp fly for the canal?  And thanks! to Victor K for his generosity to the TPFR community and to a lucky raffle winner tonight. Cheers.

It's a cool coinsidence that I mentioned this on another post earlier today.

I have the same recipe that GS Feder listed and have yet to get the foam or the correct size hooks to give it a try.  Anyone know where I can get the foam from locally in the DC to Vienna areas?

Dan, I plan on teaching Popsicles patterns tonight. Miles should have left out some materials for you. If not no worries. Whitlock ties a purple deer hair mulberry. Anyone have purple deer hair?

Unsure if it's the foam you're looking for, but I've found large sheets of closed cell foam (12" x 18") in various colors at Michael's. Attached is an image of the label. I haven't seen a Mulberry color, but I think they have white, so it could be colored appropriately.

See you all tonight.

There is a Michael's craft store in Seven Corners and A Jo-Anne's too.  There's also a Dogfish Head Ale House in the same strip mall -- treat yourself to a good beer and the grouper sandwich.
