Started putting together a tutorial for the game. This first level is still pretty rough around the ages, and literally takes maybe a minute to play to completion, but I thought I'd make it available for people on this list anyway, in case anyone happened to get any good ideas from it. (Related to the interface, or the story, or anything.) No point in sharing it more publicly yet, though.

This should hopefully work, at least if you have Java installed: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e1nh69sdb3at6he/tutorial.jar

Notes:

- Not entirely happy with what feels like a huge infodump right in the beginning - would like to make things a bit more gradual. Still, it's a start.
- The level should be playable even if you happen to be red-green colorblind, but you may lose some information. Sorry about that, at some point I'll add an option to pick your own colors instead of the traditional "green = true, red = false" mapping.
- There's a minor bug at one point, where you are supposed to hit space to continue, but pressing space doesn't actually do anything. In that case, click on the text field to bring it back to focus, and space should work again.
- When the text field displays "level complete!", you're done. (On my todo-list: add a dialog box allowing you to replay the level or continue. Also on my todo-list: make the next level, so that there is actually someplace to continue to...)
- Will put the source code on a public GitHub repo soon.
- "Celia" isn't final for the main character's name, want something more fantasy-ish but it was the first name that came to mind.
- All of the other fluff text is basically placeholders too.

Next level: further tracking down the source of the rumor in an attempt to find out more about it!

Ha, I now know how to fix that! Will implement the fix in the morning. :)

Aaaand fixed - instead of just explaining how an "or" gate functions, I added a part where the player gets to figure it out themselves. This part is probably trivial for anyone with any experience at all about formal logic, but I thought I'd try to accommodate even the players with no such experience. Don't worry, it'll move on quickly from there.

Also added an option to choose different colors. Now for the next level...
